Troy Bilt 2410 Snow Blower Review

by James Reeves November 5, 2019
by James Reeves

Have you considered the Troy-Bilt STORM 2410 as your snow blower for the upcoming winter but don’t know what really sets it apart from the other options available in the market? This may significantly complicate your buying process. Don’t worry. You’re not alone.

Year after year, new snow blower models are launched. Even when they are filled to the brim with new technology, the product specifications – serrated steel augers, 6F and 2R speeds, 40V Lithium-ion battery – may be quite complex for a layman to understand. It’s even worse when all the manufacturers claim that their snow blower is the best in the market.

Troy-Bilt delivers an amazing user experience right from the moment you buy the snow blower. The Troy-Brit STORM 2410 comes packaged in a sturdy box which has a wooden frame around the machine to protect the equipment from any damage while it’s in transit. However, you should remember that the machine weighs between 185-195 pounds. So you would require more than one person to help you carry and/or load the snow blower. Next comes the assembling. When you get to it, you will realize there isn’t much to do. The only parts that require any assembly are the chute, the chute controller and the two handles that help you navigate the snow blower. If you know your way with a ratchet wrench, the total assembly should not take you more than 30 minutes.

Features of the Troy Bilt 2410 Snow Blower

Let’s evaluate all the features you’ll use once your snow blower is up and running. Troy-Bilt’s STORM 2410 is a two-stage, electric-start, self-propelled, snow blower with serrated steel augers, a 208cc Troy-Bilt OHV 4-cycle engine, and X-Trac tires along with other extensive features that are integrated with the sole purpose of taking the stress out of your stress run. The Troy-Bilt STORM 2410 is a two-stage snow blower. This means that in the first stage, snow and ice are gathered and broken down into smaller pieces with the help of the 12-inch serrated steel auger. The smaller pieces are then led to an impeller and dispensed through a chute in the second stage. The snow that is being cleared will be discharged faster and deposited farther away. Let’s evaluate all the features you’ll use once your snow blower is up and runningImagine having to push a 190-pound body of metal through the snow. That would be rather uncomfortable. Troy-Bilt eliminates this problem by making STORM 2410 self-propelled with an all-wheel drive with a choice of 6 forward and 2 reverse speeds. ‘Self-propelled’ means that the snow blower will do all the pushing for you without you having to strain yourself. The multiple forward and reverse speeds will allow you more control in steering the unit. The chute controls further increase the ease of plowing through the snow using this snow blower. We agree that it may not be the first feature you evaluate. However, the presence of chute controls can drastically affect your snow walks. The crank chute control with the capability to 180° lets you modify and adjust the direction in which the gathered snow is dispensed. With STORM 2410’s remote chute control you can adjust the chute direction right from the operator area. The snow blower is powered by a 208cc Troy-Bilt OHV 4-cycle engine with a pushbutton electric start. The engine is far more compact as compared to other engines being used and provide longer run time. However, because of its technical composition, it provides lesser efficiency.

The engine also enables a push-button electric start. Get a standard indoor/outdoor power cord connected to your wall outlet. You can quickly recharge your snow blower and get ready to plow without having to pull-start a cold engine in sub-zero temperatures. You can clear a path 24 inches wide and 12 inches deep. There are other snow blowers that let you clear a wider path. But the manufacturer makes up for it by installing 13×4 inch X-track tires. The tires will increase traction and enable easy maneuvering. Often times, you may find your patio drowning in a thick snowy blanket. Now, you may simply shovel it but there’s always the risk that the shovel may leave behind ugly scuff marks on your cedar patio deck. Troy-Bilt STORM 2410 comes with high-impact and adjustable polymer skid shoes that will protect any surfing from scuffing. Not just that, the snow blower also comes with a snow cab that will provide additional safety against the harsh weather. Moreover, there is a protective enclosure that will shield the operator from the winter elements while they are using it.

A little about me. I'm James, and unfortunately, I have more experience than most when it comes to snow blowers. Following an apprenticeship and a 7 year career in specialist snow blower repair workshops across 3 states, I've seen it all. From Husqvarnas to Cub Cadets, if its sold in the US, I've probably fixed it at some stage.
